Come Meet the Newest Charity that Quilters Depot is Supporting

We believe @ Quilters Depot that we must give back to our community however we can. Will you help us and help this great Charity?!

Wrapped in Love is the newest charity that we are supporting at Quilters Depot. The mission of the foundation is to provide blankets to patients receiving chemotherapy treatments in area hospitals.

Quilters Depot has agreed to help get the information about this foundation out. Quilters Depot is also to be a drop off point for blanket donations. We feel so blessed to be working with the fine ladies of Wrapped in Love.

The following paragraphs contain the basic information that Chris Mabon and Darvina Emmerich would like to share with the community.

"The Wrapped In Love Foundation, Inc. is a new non-profit organization starting up in Pittsburgh. This foundation was created by Darvina Emmerich in memory of her husband, James, who underwent intensive chemotherapy treatment and sadly succumbed to cancer. The mission of the foundation is to provide blankets to patients receiving chemotherapy treatment in area hospitals. As you may know, during long hours of chemotherapy, patients become exhausted, uncomfortable and cold. It is our belief that the blankets will provide comfort, warmth and hope to those in need. Blankets will be given to the patients to keep.

The number of people receiving chemotherapy in the Pittsburgh area is staggering. One UPMC hospital alone requires 360 blankets per week. As the demand is great, we are reaching out to the community in a variety of ways, for blankets and/or monetary donations. Pittsburgh is a caring and generous city, which is why it was chosen to be the city where the Wrapped In Love Foundation, Inc. would be launched.”

The foundation is asking for new blankets, 50" x 60" in size. Quilts, fleece, afghans or thermal blankets - purchased or home made - are all welcome. The blanket should be washable. Quilters Depot will make sure that the foundation receives all blankets.

In lieu of a blanket donation, the foundation will happily accept monetary donations. Checks, made payable to "Wrapped In Love Foundation, Inc." should be mailed to Wrapped In Love Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 13486, Pittsburgh, PA 15243."
